Man injured in accidental shooting dies

SPANISH FORK — A man injured in an accidental shooting in Spanish Fork has died.

Rowland Denison, 50, passed away at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, according to Lt. Matt Johnson of the Spanish Fork Police Department.

Denison accidentally shot himself with a rifle he was loading into his truck near 2000 East and Canyon Road Monday morning. He was conscious and talking when police arrived.

Doctors at Mountain View Hospital in Payson wanted to fly him to Provo for surgery but weather conditions delayed the flight. So he underwent surgery in Payson and was later flown to Provo, where he died around noon.
