CENTERVILLE — A Centerville therapist has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a teenage patient.

Scott Andrew Peterson, 36, of Bountiful, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of forcible sexual abuse, which was amended to a second-degree felony. Additional charges of forcible sexual abuse, forcible sodomy and lewdness were dismissed as part of the deal.

Peterson, a clinical social worker, engaged in a variety of sexual encounters at least "a dozen times" with a female client at his Centerville business, Therapy on the Fly, 1199 S. Main, according to court documents. The girl was 16 when the relationship began.

The incidents began after Peterson, who "occupied a position of special trust," exposed himself to the girl, charges state.

Peterson was arrested and stripped of his professional license in November. His business was shuttered in August.

Peterson remains in Davis County Jail awaiting sentencing.
