RICHFIELD CITY — A man, armed and allegedly suicidal, was barricaded in his home Sunday evening before being arrested.

Richfield City police officers responded to a call of threats being made Sunday evening, and around 5 p.m., officers were able to establish a line of communication with the man. The man making threats was identified as Edward Joseph Stubbs, according to Richfield City police.

Police evacuated the neighboring homes soon after speaking with Stubbs and the Utah County SWAT team was called in during the standoff. The Richfield Fire Department and Sevier County EMS, including Life Flight, were put on standby.

Stubbs eventually agreed to exit his home and surrendered to SWAT and the police at about 9 p.m. He was charged and booked at the Sevier County Jail. He was arrested in connection with one count of reckless endangerment, two counts of threat of violence and one count of threat of terrorism and booked at Sevier County Jail.
