KAYSVILLE — Over 60 competitors fenced in a Kaysville tournament to raise money for local food banks Saturday.

"It's kind of like playing chess at 100-miles-an-hour," said Ron Hendricks, director of Wasatch Fencing.

Some even traveled from out of state to compete in the 10th annual "Will Fence for Food" tournament.

In lieu of entry fees, fencers donated canned goods to participate.

"We all love to fence, but it's also nice to know we're giving back to the community a little bit," Hendricks said.

This year's tournament is expected raise over $1,000. The annual event started as a school project for one fencer 10 years ago.

Wasatch Fencing is a non-profit, volunteer organization, that's been teaching youth the sport of fencing since 1983.
