SALT LAKE CITY — Nothing makes the holidays more magical than attending programs and events geared to make the Yuletide gay. Many such events have been planned in and around the Salt Lake City area and it’s not too late to join in the fun. Here is a short list of free holiday outings you and your family will love to attend.

Christmas Carol Sing-A-Long (Energy Solutions Arena)

When: Monday December 16 at 7 p.m.

Where: The Energy Solutions Arena (301 W. South Temple)

Cost: Free to the public

What: Hosted by the Larry H. Miller family, this event promises to fill your heart with Christmas cheer and joy. Come early to enjoy free treats and a gift bag courtesy of the family. Parking at the Park Place parking lot is also free across the street.

Echoes of Christmas (Liberty Park)

When: The last few shows run December 16-18 from 7-9 p.m.

Where: Liberty Park (enter the park from 900 S. and 600 E.)

Christmas Carol Service (Cathedral of the Madeleine)

When: Tuesday December 24 at 4 p.m.

Where: The Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple

Cost: Free, but seating passes are recommended. Call (801) 994-4663 to reserve a pass.

What: A Christmas carol celebrations featuring songs of worship and devotions.
