WEST VALLEY CITY — Crews were able to quickly douse an attic fire Sunday morning that caused about $30,000 in damage to a West Valley City home.

West Valley City Fire Marshal Bob Fitzgerald said the 11 a.m. blaze at 2922 Westcove Drive (4700 South) was spotted because of smoke coming out of the vents of the attic.

Crews responded and made an interior attack on the blaze, quickly getting the fire extinguished. A woman who was home at the time escaped without injury, he said.

Investigators were still trying to determine the cause.
