OAKLEY — A man was accidentally shot as his girlfriend unloaded a rifle in Summit County Wednesday morning.
The couple had just finished hunting near Oakley and was preparing to leave when the woman unloaded the Remington Bolt Action Rifle and it discharged, according to Capt. Justin Martinez with the Summit County Sheriff's Office. Previously investigators said it was a shotgun.
The bullet hit the woman's boyfriend, a man in his 30s, in the knee. He was flown to a hospital in stable condition.
"There does not appear to be anything suspicious about this, that we had a domestic, that this was intentional," Martinez said. "At this time the investigation is showing that it appears to be completely accidental."
