SALT LAKE CITY — Daily story time at the library and regular park outings aren’t the only free things for families to enjoy together.

Below, you’ll find a list of some free activities that caught our eye.

Utah Valley

Lighting Of The Riverwoods will feature performances by Alex Boye, BYU Womens Choir and others. Kids can get their face painted, enjoy a firework show, free carriage rides and the lighting of the shops.

Wacky Wednesday Storytime at Barnes and Noble introduces kids to a new story with an activity to follow.

*Wednesdays, 10 a.m.*Orem Barnes and Noble

From Van Gogh to Play Dough is an interactive way for kids to learn about art. Held every Tuesday and Thursday, kids learn about the current exhibits in the Brigham Young University Museum of Art. Registration is required. Sign up on the museum’s website.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.BYU Museum of ArtAdventures in Art** is a recurring event at the BYU Museum of Art for kids ages 5 to 11 years old, at which kids will take a tour of the art and create their own.

Student Parent Social for BYU students juggling kids and school gives kids an opportunity to meet new friends and parents a chance to do the same.

‘Pinocchio’ will play for the community at the Orem Public Library. Grab a seat and enjoy the show.

*Monday, Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m.*Orem Public Library

Heralder’s Choir will perform at the Orem Public Library. The children’s choir is comprised of homeschooled students across Salt Lake and Utah valleys.

Salt Lake City

Kids days: Every weekday, the City Library hosts kids events. Check the calendar for recurring activities, from storytime and movies to crafts.

Thanksgiving Crafts hosted by the City Library is a fun way for kids of all ages to create. *Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m.*Day-Riverside Branch

Holiday Crafts is a fun exhibit of crafts made by 15 of the City Library’s staff members. They have created paintings, wreaths, greeting cards and jewelry, among other things.

Lights at City Creek are a fun way to see holiday lights without freezing. Stay under the glass ceiling while looking at lights and step outside for a few minutes to watch a fountain show. Just avoid the Disney Store.

Weekend Wiggletime is held every Sunday by the City Library. Movement-oriented stories get kids actively involved in storytime.

Art Workshops are held each week in November by the City Library. Every Tuesday, kids aged 3 years through elementary school can learn about immigration and contemporary Utah and make art with the help of a local artist.

Light Up the Night at the Gateway is a fun light show featuring a towering pine tree.

Family Yoga gives kids (ages 3 and up) and parents a time to exercise together and learn proper yoga technique. Paul Overall from Avenues Yoga teaches the free class every fourth Monday of the month.
