SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police and UHP are looking for a man who ran from them after crashing a stolen car.

UHP trooper Jeff Davis said just before 5 a.m. he ran the license plate of a vehicle near 200 South and 500 West and found it was stolen out of Salt Lake City. Before he even tried to stop it, the car drove away.

Davis said he decided not to chase it but he kept an eye on it.

The car eventually crashed into the center median at 300 South and 400 West. The driver ditched the car in the middle of the road and fled on foot.

Troopers tried to set up a containment to catch him but didn't have enough resources, so the suspect is still on the run.

Salt Lake City police have been called in to help look for the man. They're also investigating the stolen car, which was towed from the scene.
