SALT LAKE CITY — The man police believe robbed two Salt Lake County banks in the past eight days has been arrested.
Cory Lee Stephens, 28, is in custody for allegedly entering the Mountain America Credit Union on 2174 E. 3300 South in Salt Lake City Thursday. Police said Stephens acted like he was on his cell phone before approaching a bank teller, handing over a note, and demanding money.
The teller allegedly gave Stephens an undisclosed amount of money, and no one was injured. According to police, Stephens then fled the building, heading east. Police said Stephens was likely unarmed.
Police believe Stephens also robbed the Deseret Credit Union in Taylorsville on Sept. 20.
Between the Sept. 20 and Sept. 28 robberies, Stephens re-invented his look.
"The difference in these two cases is that the suspect has shaved his head since that time," said Lt. Justin Hoyle, public information officer for the Unified Police Department.

Stephens was arrested in the area of 200 W. 500 North in Salt Lake City following a joint investigation of the Unified Police Department, Salt Lake City Police Department, and the FBI.
Stephens was arrested without incident, and has been booked in the Salt Lake County Jail on bank robbery charges, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal, public information officer for the Unified Police Department. Police think Stephens is tied to a number of other robberies in the area.
