LOGAN, Utah (AP) — The Cache High School parking lot became a makeshift delivery room earlier this week.

The Herald Journal reports Jaxon Jay Martin was born there just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, after his parents couldn't make it to nearby Logan Regional Hospital in time.

Father Colby Martin says his wife, Janeth, woke up with contractions Wednesday, so they headed for the hospital about 10 minutes away.

But he says his wife's water broke about four minutes into the drive, and she told him to pull over.

Colby Martin says he parked, reclined the seat, and delivered the baby before rescuers arrive to help cut the boy's umbilical cord.

He says he turned down an ambulance and drove his wife and son the rest of the way to the hospital.
