LAYTON, Utah (AP) - Officials have identified a 15-year-old hiker who died after falling 80 feet in Adams Canyon over the weekend.
The Davis County Sheriff's Office says Adam Patrick McBride of Washington Terrace fell about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Adams Falls, east of Layton. Authorities say he was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center and died early Sunday morning.
Deputies say the boy fell while climbing down from the falls and had serious head injuries and broken bones.
Family members released a statement Wednesday thanking rescuers who tried to save him, including an unknown woman who gave the boy CPR until emergency workers arrived.
