SNOWVILLE, Box Elder County — Crew continued to battling a fast-moving fire in Northern Box Elder county Sunday that has grown to approximately 2,600 acres.
Roughly 100 firefighters have been assigned to the fire, located in the Devil's Playground recreation area, which began Saturday after a lightning strike.
"It has very little containment at this point in time," Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Teresa Rigby said Sunday morning.
Rigby said there are no structures in immediate danger, but a cabin and military communications site are in the vicinity of the fire. She said crews were working to protect those sites, as well as coordinating with local residents to mitigate the damage to cattle grazing land.
"Given that the fire grew two to three square miles yesterday that gap can close pretty quickly," Rigby said. "
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
