ALTAMONT, Duchesne County — Search and rescue crews located a Uintah County man Saturday who went missing in the High Uintas Thursday.
Searchers found Jonathan Blackhair, 40, of Whiterocks, walking along a trail about 2 p.m. Saturday.
"He was working his way back out (to the trail head)," Duchesne County Sheriff's Chief Deputy David Boren said. "He was pretty fatigued, pretty tired, so they put him on a horse and brought him out."
Blackhair was one of four men who had taken a group of boys fishing and camping earlier this week in the Granddaddy Basin about 20 miles northwest of Altamont, according to Boren.
When the group began hiking out of the area Thursday, Blackhair told the others he wanted to take his time and would catch up with them, Boren said. He never showed up at the trail head though.
Members of Blackhair's party returned to the area Friday to look for him. They did not find him, hiked back out and notified the sheriff's office Saturday morning that Blackhair was missing, Boren said.
Blackhair was taken by ambulance to Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt as a precaution.
