SALT LAKE CITY — They use guns from 100 years ago but say they're faster than modern guns.
More than 100 people are participating in the 2013 Utah State Championship of cowboy action shooting.
"We celebrate Porter Rockwell and those guys, going back to our heritage of the Old West," said Dale Kimsey, the match director.
Event organizers set up scenarios that require participants to shoot 13 moving targets as quickly as possible using pistols, rifles and shotguns in the correct order.
"All of our guns have to be cocked each time you pull the trigger," Kimsey explained.
"What we do that's different from other shooting ranges is we want everybody to keep moving and have a great time," he added.
The three-day event runs through Saturday. More details are available from the Utah War Single Action Shooting Society.
