TOOELE COUNTY — A 7-year-old girl was killed Sunday after an all-terrain vehicle wrecked in Tooele County.

Tooele County public information officer Wade Matthews said the girl, who was a passenger on the vehicle, was killed when it hit a tree just after 2:00 p.m.

The accident occurred just east of mile marker five up Middle Canyon. The canyon is still closed for the season - so, police said the driver had to go around or over a gate to get in.

Whether the vehicle was a motorcycle or a four-wheeler is unclear. Matthews also said it was not yet known if drugs or alcohol were involved.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
