EMERY COUNTY — The body found in Emery County on Saturday has been identified as a man who has been missing since December.
The State Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the body found on May 4 as Matthew Alan Larsen, 25.
Larsen's body was found at 10 a.m. in the foothills near Orangeville. He was airlifted out of the area by a Utah Highway Patrol helicopter.
Larsen was reported as being last seen on Dec. 15 before his body was found. The Emery County Sheriff's department set up several search parties after Larsen was declared as missing, but snow storms eventually put a halt on the search.
Police officers called Larsen's disappearance "suspicious" because Larsen did not appear to have taken anything with him, including a dog he owned, and he didn't tell anyone where he was going.
Police will continue to investigate Larsen's death.
