LOGAN, Utah (AP) - A 13-year-old Logan boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with an apartment fire near the Island Market.
The (Logan) Herald Journal reports (http://tinyurl.com/cwfk89v ) firefighters were called to a duplex at about 8 p.m. Tuesday after flames were seen inside the vacant apartment.
Police say the apartment had been vandalized and that a small fire - started with an accelerant - was burning inside the apartment when firefighters arrived.
The fire caused about $5,000 damage. The boy was taken into custody this week after police presented evidence to the Cache County Attorney's Office for review.
He's being held in the county's juvenile detention center and will be referred to juvenile court. He's accused of aggravated arson, aggravated assault and misdemeanor retail theft.
