WEST VALLEY CITY — Police have released surveillance images of a woman using a credit card that was stolen from a woman visiting the graves of her son and husband.

The images show a woman checking out of Stan's Market at 4195 W. 5415 South in Kearns and paying her bill with a credit card that belongs to Sharon Armijo before walking out of the store.

The images are dated Saturday, March 16 — the same day as the reported theft. According to the timestamp, they were taken just before 8 p.m.

Armijo reported the credit card, along with her purse, and ashes as stolen earlier this month.

The ashes were of Avery Bock, who was killed alongside her son Jacob Armijo last year in a car accident. Bock's mother had given her the ashes in a vial on a necklace, which she kept in her purse as a memento of the teen.

When police showed her the images, Armijo was astounded.

"I could see the lady with my wallet, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she's got my wallet,'" Armijo said. "And she was kind of fumbling around, like didn't know where things were."

The items were stolen from Armijo's car, she said, while she was visiting the graves of her husband and son on March 16. She normally locks her car, but left it unlocked on this particular visit. When she returned to her car, just 35 yards from the graves, she found the driver's side door ajar and her purse missing.

Armijo said all she wants is to have those sentimental items returned.

"The money is not important, I'm not a rich woman, but … it's already done and gone," she said.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact West Valley police at 801-840-4000.
