MAGNA — A man robbed a Magna bank Monday, but police weren't immediately able to identify him. One officer's good memory led police to the man's doorstep within the day.
At about 11 a.m., The Wells Fargo at 8295 W. 3500 South was robbed by a man who gave a note to the teller saying he had a weapon.
He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank, police said. No one was injured in the robbery, but police were unable to track the suspect down.
Unified Police released a photo of the individual both to the public and internally to the department. In just a few hours, another officer was able to identify the alleged robber as Raymond Madill, said Lt. Justin Hoyal with Unified Police.
"One of our officer's recognized this individual as someone that he had dealt with, contacted our office and told them who it was," Hoyal said.
Police tracked Madill to a home in Magna and took him into custody without incident at around 8 p.m.
He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on for investigation of aggravated robbery.
