SALT LAKE CITY — World, meet Sam Gordon, a 9-year-old girl from Herriman. Most girls her age are likely content playing with Barbies or having pretend tea parties with their friends. However, Sam plays tackle football, and is extremely good.

Not only is she good, she's likely the best football player in the state at her age. Sam's father, Brent Gordon, posted a highlights video on YouTube Monday, and the video has already had 1.8 million page views and is quickly growing.

In her first season of tackle football, Sam scored 35 times and rushed for 1,911 yards on 232 carries, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. Not only was she unstoppable on offense, she managed to rack up 65 tackles.

The highlight video starts with Sam's first play, where she's under center as quarterback. As the center snaps the ball, Sam takes off, running untouched for a 65-yard touchdown.

The video has been shown around the United States and was recently played on ESPN. Needless to say, Sam is getting a lot of attention.

With her speed and vision, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly will likely be making some early recruiting calls. However, I'm sure Bronco Mendenhall, Kyle Whittingham or Gary Anderson would love to have an explosive player like Sam.

It hasn't been easy being an L.A. Lakers fan so far this NBA season. But Salt Lake police say one fan's apparent frustration crossed the line.

Roye Foye chest bump

The Utah Jazz started the season 1-3 before facing the Los Angeles Lakers at home Wednesday night. It's not a secret that Jazz fans dislike the Lakers, which is evident in a pepper spray incident at the game. However, a 95-86 victory against the Lakers was a nice fix to a slow start on the season.

The Jazz win was led by backup point guard Randy Foye as he lit up the Lakers from the 3-point line. Foye hit five 3-pointers, ending the night with 17 points. One of the best moments of the night, though, was when Foye ran over to the bench during a timeout and tried to give Jazz Head Coach Ty Corbin a chest bump. I'm not sure Corbin knew it was coming, but the only way it could have been better is if Corbin had joined the fun.

Following the game, Foye thanked the energy of the crowd, saying: "The Solution is a lot louder than the Staples Center." His "Solution" comment, in reference to EnergySolutions Arena, has Twitter going abuzz. The nickname has stuck with many fans who will forever called the arena "The Solution." Others have started referring to Foye as "The Solution."

Nevertheless, the win excited the fan base and was a good way to bounce back from a three-game skid.

Marijuana in Colorado and Washington

Colorado and Washington passed a law on Tuesday legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. The initial thought for many turned to recruiting. Would Colorado and Washington have an edge in recruiting because of the new law?

The NCAA will likely forbid the use marijuana while an athlete is at school. Many legal substances are already forbidden for athletes, so it doesn't seem likely the NCAA will allow for the recreational use of marijuana.

Jordan Wynn

Former Utah quarterback Jordan Wynn won over the hearts of Utah fans when he saved the Utes from a poor performance against Wyoming in 2009, down 10-3 at halftime. The future appeared bright as Wynn, then a freshman, looked to continue the 2008 momentum. However, injuries plagued him for the rest of his career, before retiring from the game on Sept. 11 of this year.

Four surgeries later, Wynn continues to work the sidelines, reminiscing about the game. Utes Head Coach Kyle Whittingham has intimated that Wynn would make a great coach, but his future is still uncertain. On Wednesday, the New York Times did a profile piece on Wynn, addressing Wynn's future.
