NEW YORK (AP) — Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski will serve as correspondents for NBC's coverage of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The network announced Monday that the NBC Sports figure skating analysts will explore Rio's culture, sights, sounds and fashion in August during the games.

Says Jim Bell, executive producer of NBC Olympics, "We are thrilled to have Johnny and Tara join us in Rio, a city whose color, vibrancy and spirit is a perfect match with their own."

The two former Olympians attracted attention for their rapport and fashion sense in an understudy role at the Sochi Games in 2014. NBC then made them its top figure skating broadcast team.

Weir and Lipinski began preparing for their latest gig at Rio's Carnival festival in February.

The pair also will serve as fashion and lifestyle experts for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
