LONDON (AP) — Beth Tweddle, a former Olympic bronze medalist in gymnastics, is recovering in an Austrian hospital after undergoing neck surgery following a fall while training for a winter sports reality television show.

The three-time world gymnastics champion crashed into a barrier Saturday while preparing for "The Jump," a show on Britain's Channel 4 where celebrities and sports stars attempt acrobatic winter sports feats.

Tweddle's parents, Ann and Jerry Tweddle, wrote on their daughter's website that surgeons "took a piece of bone from her hip and used it to fuse the two vertebrae that were fractured, along with pinning them together."

The 30-year-old Tweddle is the third contestant to be injured during this year's show.

Tweddle won bronze in the uneven bars at the 2012 London Olympics. She retired from gymnastics in 2013.
