OBERHOFEN, Switzerland (AP) — The Alpine skiing test event in February for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, seems to be on track.
The International Ski Federation had set Nov. 15 as the deadline to decide whether construction on a gondola at the Jeongseon resort was moving forward fast enough.
FIS president Gian-Franco Kasper tells The Associated Press: "We have the promise that everything will be OK."
FIS technical expert Gunter Hujara inspected Jeongseon over the weekend.
Kasper says the gondola "is our challenge — nothing else."
He says the course "is beautiful, there's no question."
A men's World Cup downhill and super-G are scheduled to be held at Jeongseon from Feb. 6-7.
