NEW ORLEANS (AP) — States that challenged endangered species regulations say the Trump administration has agreed to rewrite rules about how to designate areas considered critical to a species' recovery.
The endangered species director for an environmental nonprofit says that's terrible news. Noah Greenwald of the Center for Biological Diversity says the administration has "shown nothing but hostility toward endangered species."
News releases from the attorneys general for Alabama and Louisiana say Thursday's agreement settles a lawsuit brought by 20 states and four national trade groups.
The U.S. Justice Department did not immediately respond to phoned and emailed requests for comment.
