Kansas ends Baylor's 23-game streak...SD State finally loses
UNDATED (AP) — Kansas and Baylor played a game that lived up to its billing. The outcome gave the third-ranked Jayhawks a share of the Big 12 and will likely move the Jayhawks to the top of The Associated Press men’s basketball poll on Monday.
Kansas also ended the Bears’ 23-game winning streak as Udoka Azubuike (oo-DOH'-kah a-zoo-BOO'-kay) had 23 points and a career-high 19 rebounds in the Jayhawks’ 64-61 victory at Baylor. Isaiah Moss added 11 points, including two free throws for Kansas with 7.9 seconds left before a timeout.
The Bears had a chance to tie it until Jared Butler missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
The 24-3 Jayhawks have won 12 in a row since their first-ever home loss to Baylor on Jan. 11.
Butler had a team-high 19 points for the Bears, who dropped to 24-2 overall and 13-1 in the conference.
Meanwhile, the nation’s longest winning streak in men’s basketball is over.
Fourth-ranked San Diego State had been 26-0 until Elijah Mitrou-Long scored 19 points, including two free throws with 11.5 seconds left to push UNLV past the Aztecs, 66-63. San Diego State erased most of a 14-point deficit when it pulled to 64-63 on Malachi Flynn's 3-pointer with 14.5 seconds left.
Amauri Hardy scored 17 points and Bryce Hamilton added 11 with 10 rebounds for the Runnin’ Rebels.
No. 2 Gonzaga also tasted defeat, giving Kansas a chance to climb to the top of the next AP poll.
Yoeli Childs scored 28 points to help No. 23 BYU end the Bulldogs’ 19-game winning streak, 91-78. Jake Toolson added 17 points and T.J. Haws had 16 points for the Cougars, who never trailed in the second half of their eighth consecutive win.
Killian Tillie scored 18 points and Corey Kispert added 16 to lead the Zags.
In other top-25 games:
— Obi Toppin (OH’-bee TAH’-pihn) delivered 28 points and fifth-ranked Dayton won its 16th straight by defeating Duquesne (doo-KAYN'), 80-70. Jalen Crutcher added 17 points and five assists as the 25-2 Flyers improved to 14-0 in the Atlantic 10.
— Cassius Stanley drained a season-high five 3-poiners while scoring 21 points to send No. 6 Duke to an 88-64 romp over Virginia. Matthew Hurt added 16 points and a season-high 10 rebounds to help the Blue Devils move to 23-4 overall and 13-3 in the ACC.
— Eighth-ranked Florida State pulled out a 67-61 win against North Carolina State as Patrick Williams had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Seminoles. M.J. Walker chipped in 12 points and Devin Vassell added 11 with six rebounds as FSU moved to 13-3 in the ACC.
— Immanuel Quickley show 4-for-6 from 3-point range and furnished a career-high 26 points as No. 10 Kentucky got past Florida, 65-59. Tyrese Maxey had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as the Wildcats picked up their sixth straight win and moved to 12-2 in the SEC.
— Jordan Nwora (WOHR’-ah) scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season to lead No. 11 Louisville over North Carolina, 72-55. Malik Williams added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinals, who will be an ACC-best 14-3 heading into Monday’s matchup with Florida State.
— Saddiq Bey (sah-DEEK’ bay) dropped in 22 points and 12th-rated Villanova picked up its third straight road win by dumping Xavier, 64-55. Jermaine Samuels added 17 points for the Wildcats, who nailed 18 3-point attempts and never trailed in their 21st victory.
— Samir Doughty scored 22 points and 13th-ranked Auburn went on an 18-0 run to rally from a 17-point deficit in the second half of a 73-66 triumph against Tennessee. The game was marred by an ugly incident involving a fan who was ejected from the game after directing a derogatory comment toward Tennessee's Santiago Vescovi and will face a disciplinary hearing.
— Payton Pritchard poured in a career-high 38 points and Shakur Juiston all nine of Oregon’s overtime points as the 14th-ranked Ducks rallied to beat No. 24 Arizona, 73-72. Juiston’s layup with 1.4 seconds left in OT was the difference.
— Kevin Samuel scored six of his 19 points in overtime to carry TCU past No. 17 West Virginia, 67-60. Samuel made all seven of his shots and had eight rebounds as the Horned Frogs dealt the Mountaineers’ their fifth consecutive Big 12 road loss.
— Tyger Campbell tallied 15 points and 11 assists in UCLA’s 70-63 victory against 18th-rated Colorado. Cody Riley had 16 points in the Bruins’ fifth consecutive win.
— Luwane Pipkins scored 24 points and David Duke had 15 to lead Providence to an 84-72 victory over No. 19 Marquette. The Friars overcame Markus Howard’s 38 points in winning their third in a row, all against ranked teams.
— Precious Achiuwa scored 10 points, including the go-ahead free throw with 28.2 seconds left as Memphis beat No. 22 Houston, 60-59.
NHL-SCHEDULE
Caps lose again despite Ovie’s 700th
UNDATED (AP) — Alex Ovechkin (oh-VEHCH’-kihn) reached a major milestone Saturday afternoon, but he couldn’t give the Washington Capitals sole possession of the NHL’s Metropolitan Division lead.
Ovechkin is the eighth player in league history to score 700 goals, doing it in a 3-2 loss at New Jersey. The left wing did it 4:50 into the third period, firing a shot from the right circle that glanced off the left post to tie the game. It was Ovechkin’s 42nd goal of the season.
But the Devils came away with the victory when Damon Severson beat Ilya Samsonov (sam-SOH’-nahv) with 1:59 seconds remaining, sending the Capitals to their fourth consecutive loss and sixth in seven games.
The Caps remain tied with Pittsburgh for the division lead with 80 points.
The Penguins were 5-2 losers to Buffalo as Jack Eichel (EYE’-kul) delivered a pair of goals. Eichel, Zemgus Girgensons (ZEHM’-guhs GUR’-gehn-suhnz) and Sam Reinhart all beat Tristan Jarry during an early three-goal outburst. Connor Hutton turned away 41 shots as the Sabres earned just the second regulation victory in their last 20 meetings with Pittsburgh.
Elsewhere on NHL ice:
— Clayton Keller and Conor Garland each had two goals and an assist in leading the Coyotes to a 7-3 win over the Lightning. Arizona took control with four straight games and handed Tampa Bay its second straight loss since a team-record 11-game winning streak.
— The Bruins’ five-game winning streak is over after Tyler Toffoli (tah-FOH’-lee), Troy Stecher (STEH’-chur) and J.T. Miller each collected three points in the Canucks’ 9-3 thrashing of Boston. Toffoli tallied twice and Stecher scored once against the Bruins, who settled for a 3-1 record on their four-game road trip. Boston still leads the Atlantic Division by five points over the Lightning after allowing nine goals for the first time in four years.
— Toronto Marlies Zamboni driver Dave Ayres picked up a victory as an emergency netminder by stopping eight of 10 shots in the Hurricanes’ 6-3 decision over the Maple Leafs. Ayres was pressed into service after Petr Mrazek (muh-RA’-zehk) and James Reimer had to leave the game with injuries. Warren Foegele (FOH’-gul) scored twice for Carolina.
— The Avalanche pulled out a 2-1 win over the Kings when Joonas Donskoi (DAHN’-skoy) tallied in the third round of a shootout. Ryan Graves tied it for Colorado last in the second period before the Avs climbed within one point of the Blues for the Central Division lead.
— Scott Laughton scored twice and the Flyers pulled within three points of the Metropolitan Division co-leaders by earning their third straight win, 4-2 against the Jets. Sean Couturier (koo-TOOR’-ee-ay) and Tyler Pitlick also scored and Justin Braun had three assists to help Philly improve to 21-5-4 at home.
— Reilly Smith scored twice in the third period as the Golden Knights downed the Panthers, 5-3 to take a three-point lead in the Pacific Division. Max Pacioretty (pash-uh-REH’-tee) put Vegas ahead with his 29th goal of the season, scoring with 52 seconds left in the middle period.
— Jesper Fast scored twice and Igor Shesterkin (shehs-TUR’-kihn) turned back 44 shots in the Rangers’ seventh win in eight games, 3-2 over the Sharks. Mika Zibanejad (MEE’-kuh zih-BAN’-eh-jad) also scored and Artemi Panarin (ahr-TEH’-mee pah-NAH-rihn) extended his point streak to eight games with two assists.
— Max Domi (DOH’-mee) supplied a pair of first-period goals to back Carey Price in the Canadiens’ 3-0 win against the Senators. Price stopped 30 shots in his fourth shutout of the season and 48th of his career.
— Rocco Grimaldi scored in the eighth round of the shootout to give the Predators a 4-3 verdict over the Blue Jackets. Colton Sissons, Ryan Johansen and Mikael Granlund each scored, and Filip Forsberg had two assists as Nashville pulled within one point of Winnipeg for the second Western Conference playoff slot.

Clippers drop third in row
UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Clippers have their first three-game losing streak of the season after falling to a state rival.
Kent Bazemore scored a season-high 23 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic added 20 as the Kings beat the Clippers on the road for the second time in less than a month, 112-103. De'Aaron Fox had 20 points and eight assists for the surging Kings, who have won two straight out of the All-Star break and eight of 12 overall.
Sacramento blew a 14-point lead in the second half before shutting out Kawhi (kah-WY’) Leonard and the Clips for more than five straight minutes down the stretch. The decisive 10-0 run was capped by Harry Giles' percussive dunk with 58 seconds left.
Leonard scored 31 points in his return from his MVP performance in Chicago.

— Giannis Antetokounmpo (YAH’-nihs an-teh-toh-KOON’-poh) had 31 points, 17 rebounds and eight assists in the Bucks’ 16th victory in 18 games, 119-98 over the 76ers. Khris Middleton scored 25 points and Milwaukee improved its NBA-best record to 48-8.
— James Harden delivered 38 points and Russell Westbrook had 34 to catapult the Rockets to a 120-110 victory over the Jazz. Harden hit six 3-pointers and combined with Westbrook to shooting 27-for-49 from the field in Houston’s third consecutive win.
— The Heat set a team record by scoring 82 points in the first half of a 124-105 trouncing of the Cavaliers. Rookie Kendrick Nunn led seven Miami players in double figures with 24 points, and he had eight assists as the Heat rolled on a night they retired Dwyane (dwayn) Wade’s jersey No. 3.
— John Collins poured in 35 points and snared 17 rebounds as the Hawks rallied to beat the Mavericks, 111-107. Dallas played without Luka Doncic (DAHN’-chihch) and Kristaps Porzingis (KRIHS’-tahps pohr-ZIHN’-gihs) with the Mavs playing their second game in two nights.
— Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot led eight Nets in double-figures with 21 points in a 115-86 dismantling of the Hornets. Garrett Temple added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Brooklyn, which outscored Charlotte, 33-13 to take a 30-point advantage.
— The Suns knocked off the Bulls, 112-104 behind DeAndre Ayton’s 28 points and 19 rebounds. Devin Booker had 29 points for Phoenix, which ended the game on a 17-4 run to win for just the third time in 10 games.
PGA-MEXICO CHAMPIONSHIP
Thomas leads Mexico Championship through 54
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Justin Thomas ran off eight birdies in a 16-hole stretch to take a one-shot lead in the PGA’s Mexico Championship, one of the World Golf Championship events.
Thomas overcame bogeys on the first and last holes for a 6-under 65 that puts him one ahead of Patrick Reed and Erik Van Rooyen. Thomas was five shots behind in the middle of his front nine at Chapultepec Golf Club.
John Rahm opened with six birdies in seven holes after entering the round 10 shots back. He broke the course record with a career-best 61 that puts him four off the pace.
MLB-WHITE SOX MOVES
White Sox agree to deals with Bummer, Garcia
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Chicago White Sox have worked out contracts with reliever Aaron Bummer and infield Leury (lay-UR’-ee) Garcia.
Bummer has received a five-year, $16 million package that includes two club options. The 26-year-old Bummer had a 2.13 ERA and 27 holds in 58 appearances with the White Sox last season.
Garcia accepted a one-year, $3.5 million deal after hitting .279 with eight homers, 40 RBIs and a team-high 93 runs scored for the 2019 White Sox.
NFL-JETS-DOCTSON
Jets sign free agent WR Josh Doctson
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed free agent Josh Doctson to add depth to their wide receiver position.
The 27-year-old Doctson had 81 receptions for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons with the Redskins before being one of the team’s final cuts last summer out of training camp. He signed with Minnesota and played just one game before being released in November, missing a huge portion of the schedule with a hamstring injury.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL-NAVY-PLAYER DEATH
Star Navy offensive lineman found dead in academy dorm
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A star lineman for Navy's record-breaking offense has been found dead in his dormitory. David Forney was 22.
Academy officials said he was discovered unresponsive in Bancroft Hall on Thursday night. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Forney was a senior and three-year letter winner, playing in 39 consecutive games over his final three seasons. He started all 13 games at guard in 2019 as part of an offensive line that set a school record with a nation-leading 360.5 yards rushing per game.
BOXING-WILDER-FURY
Fury wins in stunning stoppage of Wilder in heavyweight tilt
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Tyson Fury is a heavyweight champion once again.
The Gypsy King dropped Deontay Wilder twice Saturday night in their heavyweight title rematch, turning from boxer to puncher to win the title when Wilder's corner threw in the towel as he was taking a beating in the seventh round.
It was a stunning turnaround for a fighter who came back from drug and alcohol abuse to win the title for a second time, made even more surprising because Wilder was the devastating puncher in their first fight 14 months ago.
It was the first loss for Wilder in 44 fights, and it came in the 11th defense of the title he won in 2015.
WORLD CUP-WOMEN'S COMBINED
Brignone tops World Cup overall standings with combined win
CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (AP) — Federica Brignone (feh-deh-REE'-kah breen-YOH'-nay) now leads the World Cup overall standings ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin after winning an Alpine combined event on Sunday.
By earning 100 World Cup points, Brignone opened a gap of 73 to three-time defending champion Shiffrin who has taken an extended break from racing after the death of her father in Colorado.
Brignone ended 0.92 seconds ahead of runner-up Franziska Gritsch. Ester Ledecka, the double OIympic champion in skiing and snowboarding, placed third.
