NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Clippers coach Doc Rivers says J.J. Redick won't play Friday night against the New Orleans Pelicans so the veteran shooting guard can rest.

The Clippers' game in New Orleans marks the end of a six-game trip that began in Dallas on Nov. 23. The Clippers also will get only one day off in Los Angeles before hosting Indiana on Sunday.

Rivers has been periodically resting starters this season. He rested forward Blake Griffin last Tuesday night at Brooklyn.

Redick, a 10-year-pro out of Duke, has been the Clippers' third-leading scorer this season, averaging 15.6 points in about 27 minutes per game.

His absence comes against a Pelicans squad that has won its five previous home games.
