CATASAUQUA, Pa. (AP) — Fans will get their chance to remember former NBA great Darryl Dawkins.

A public viewing is taking place Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catasauqua.

Parking is available at the Catasauqua pool on American Street, and a shuttle bus will run every five minutes to the church.

The first player to go from high school into the first round of the NBA draft died last Thursday at a hospital in Allentown. He was 58 and his family released a statement saying the cause of death was a heart attack.

Dawkins, who was known as "Chocolate Thunder," spent parts of 14 seasons in the NBA with Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah and Detroit.

Wednesday's funeral will be private.
