CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Bobcats say center Al Jefferson had seven stitches above his right eye after taking an elbow to the head.

The injury occurred during the first quarter of Monday night's game against the Washington Wizards.

He went back in the game in the first quarter after getting taped up on the bench. When it was time for Jefferson to come out for a breather, he walked straight to the locker room to get stitches and returned in the middle of the second quarter without missing any of his regular playing time.

Jefferson, who came in averaging 21.5 points and 10.4 rebounds, had nine points in the first quarter in eight minutes.
