Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to connect with family, eat delicious homemade food, and give thanks. I also hope that we can take time to look after our communities. The benefits of volunteering are enormous to you, your family, and your community. Giving to others reduces stress, can increase a skill, and promote our mental and physical health. Utah has embraced a unique culture of giving and willingness to volunteer as we are ranked the number one state in volunteerism. We give our time to places like Tabitha’s Way food pantry and The Road Home, and we provide services to veterans, havens to addicts, and healing with equine therapy. This year, we have recognized 46 organizations working tirelessly to make our state a better place to live. I urge you to open your heart this season and immerse yourself in the service of your neighbor. We are thankful for those who strive to make our community better. SelectHealth recognizes the commitment to volunteerism in our communities as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
