PROVO — A pair of waterfowl hunters ran into rough weather on Utah Lake Saturday and were rescued from their boat — but then their rescuers got stuck, too, and additional help had to be sent.
“That lake gets nasty when the wind picks up,” Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. King said.
King said the hunters may have had engine trouble and were blown into a weedy area near Sandy Beach. A Utah State Parks boat that picked up the hunters ended up in the same situation, he said, and so a sheriff’s boat along with another state parks boat were headed out to pick up the rescued hunters — and their rescuer.
Boaters on the lake should make sure their boats are “in good operational order and keep and eye on weather reports,” King advised.
