SALT LAKE CITY — Utah weather wreaked havoc across the state Wednesday, from heavy rains to snow in some areas. Read below for the latest updates on all things weather.
Drive safe; UHP responds to 76 crashes
As drivers head into the evening commute, Utah Highway Patrol advised drivers to stay cautious and alert. Troopers responded to 76 crashes Wednesday as of 3:30 p.m.
Troopers urged drivers to increase following distance beyond two seconds and keep an eye out for standing water on roads.
Additionally, drivers may want to slow down due to wet roadways.
Flooding
Little Cottonwood Canyon
Thanks to steady, heavy rain, an urban and small stream flood advisory was issued by the National Weather Service Salt Lake City for Little Cottonwood Canyon until 5 p.m.
Officials with Utah Department of Transportation warned drivers of debris on the roadways in Big and Little Cottonwood canyons and noted crews were working hard to reinforce the hillside.

Kearns and West Valley
Earlier Wednesday, an urban and small stream flood advisory was issued due to storms over Kearns and West Valley City, according to NWS Salt Lake City.
According to NWS radar estimates, 0.5 inches of rain fell in 20 minutes and caused ponding of water in poor drainage areas. The advisory was in place until 1:30 p.m.
North Salt Lake and southeast Davis County
Ponding of water occurred on I-215, I-15 and I-80 earlier Wednesday, and an urban and small stream flood advisory was issued for North Salt Lake and southeast Davis County until 12:45 p.m., according to NWS Salt Lake City.
More than 0.5 inches of rain had fallen in several areas of Salt Lake County over the last 48 hours as of 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to NWS Salt Lake City precipitation report.

Snow in September
Just one day after the first snow of the season at Bald Mountain Pass in the high Uintas, snow fell in Mirror Lake.
Utahns looking to a get a jumpstart on the ski season were probably excited to see snow at Snowbird Resort, in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
