MALAGA, Spain — There are cat people, dog people, and apparently there are burro people.
We’ve all missed things as we’ve been in quarantine and isolation. Those of us who have pets have had them at home with us, still able to enjoy them and pamper them whether they liked it or not.
But one man from El Borge in the municipality of Malaga, Spain, wasn’t able to see his burro, Baldo, for two months. And lucky for us, he decided to film the recent reunion.
In a video posted about a week ago, the man comes up to a fence and begins to call out for Baldo.
"Where is my little donkey? Where is it, eh? What’s up? Where have you been? More like where have I been, right?" the man says in Spanish.
The burro doesn’t bound up like you may expect in a dog-owner reunion, but Baldo certainly comes toward the man with intent, happy to get his hairy head scratched.
It’s then that the man starts crying, saying out loud that it’s silly to cry over such a small thing. But he doesn’t cry alone. Soon Baldo joins in with a long, creaky bray that seems filled with just as much emotion.
"I missed you too," the man sniffs.
But as we all know, this emotional scene isn’t silly at all. If nothing else, we’ve all discovered during this pandemic that there are things we take for granted, and it’s the little things that really make a difference in how we live and enjoy our lives.
