The kindergarten classes at Hickerson Elementary School in Tullahoma, Tennessee, spent a morning learning how to perform "Happy Birthday" in sign language. The school custodian, James Anthony (known by the students as "Mr. James") is deaf and has worked at the school for 15 years, according to WKRN-TV. The students love him, and when he walks down the halls it's "high-five time," so this surprise for his birthday was especially sweet.
In the video, Mr. James is walking into the room as the kids and their teacher begin singing and signing, "Happy birthday to you." Mr. James opens his mouth in surprise and grins as he realizes the kids are singing just for him.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
The video is short, but it will make you smile and may even bring a little tear to your eye. It's always nice and uplifting to see people going out of their way to do something special for others, and these kindergartners are setting a great example for us all.
