ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Testimony has begun in the trial of a 56-year-old man accused of killing two people at Cedar City home in 2013. The Spectrum of St. George reports that Thad Robertson is facing two counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of Diann Bailey and Jeffery Hardy. Robertson's daughter testified yesterday that her father called her after the shooting to say he'd done something stupid and couldn't go to prison.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Washington-based watchdog group is asking three state attorneys general to investigate a Utah lawmaker who has led a push for western states to take control of federal public lands. The Campaign for Accountability is calling for an investigation of Republican state Rep. Ken Ivory and his nonprofit group the American Lands Council. Ivory called the complaints bullying.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah man sentenced to death in a 1985 murder case is asking for a new trial, claiming The LDS Church interfered with his trial. The Standard-Examiner newspaper in Ogden reports that Douglas Lovell says attorneys for the church initially tried to prevent testimony from Mormon officials who counseled him in prison. A church spokesman says the officials were subpoenaed and gave personal opinions.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Funeral services for top-ranking Mormon leader L. Tom Perry have been scheduled for Friday in the Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Perry was a member of The LDS Church's highest governing body, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He died Saturday at age 92 in Salt Lake City from cancer.
