OREM — When the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies was released this week, 10 Utah-based companies made the list's top 500. Highest among them was Awardco, which ranked No. 25 overall, No. 3 for Software and No. 1 in Utah.
Headquartered near the mouth of Provo Canyon, Awardco has spent the past four years developing better ways for companies to recognize and reward their employees.
For company founder Steve Sonnenberg, employee recognition is a family affair. His father spent his entire career building such programs for McDonald’s, which inspired Sonnenberg at a young age to pursue a similar path.
After graduating from Utah Valley University with a degree in computer science, Sonnenberg took various software development jobs that helped him hone his skills. Then he teamed up with his cousin, a fellow computer science graduate, to create a platform that could integrate the timeless values of his father’s programs with modern technology.
“Our message is resonating within the employee recognition space as companies have shared dissatisfaction with traditionally large markups and a poor employee experience,” Sonnenberg said in a prepared statement. “What we offer is simple, powerful and flexible, and our partnership integration with Amazon Business offers a capability other platforms lack. We are very proud to see Awardco making a lasting change on the way companies recognize, inspire, and support their employees.”
Awardco is now the only employee recognition platform to integrate with Amazon Business, allowing them to offer millions of Amazon products as well as other diverse options. This partnership has helped Awardco gain traction nationwide, contributing to the three-year revenue growth rate of 7,478% that landed the company on the Inc. 5000 list.
The next Utah-based company to receive recognition from Inc. is Podium at No. 52, followed by Wandrd at No. 80, Blue Fire Leads at No. 84, Motivosity at No. 198, Blue Raven Solar at No. 258, SimpleNexus at No. 357, Dental Intelligence at No. 381, Cosset at No. 391, and Pattern at No. 404.
