PROVO — Inspired by admiration for Lloyd Alexander's books and an exhibit of his personal belongings at the Harold B. Lee Library, Brigham Young University student Jared Crossley decided to create a documentary about the well-loved fantasy author. The simple project is now an hourlong film with backing from a Hollywood producer and Alexander experts and is garnering national attention.
The finished film is premiering soon with several exciting events.
On Thursday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. a 10-minute mini-documentary will be shown, followed by a question-and-answer session with a panel of Alexander experts in the library auditorium on level one.
The following week on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 4 p.m., Crossley’s full-length 60-minute documentary will be shown in the library auditorium on level one. Both events are free to the general public, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lloyd Alexander is a beloved children’s author, most known for “The Chronicles of Prydain;” two of those books form the basis of the 1985 Disney movie “The Black Cauldron.”
