ELK GROVE — A group of high school baseball players rushed to the rescue recently after a teenager got pinned under a vehicle in California.

The junior varsity and varsity baseball teams at Valley High School in Elk Grove, Calif., near Sacramento, were in the middle of their last practice of the season when they heard screams for help. They found a student from a nearby high school pinned under a four-door sedan, according to KCRA.

The student's mother had been dropping her off for an after-school program when the accident happened. Witnesses told News 10 the mother accidentally hit the car in front of her, panicked and put it in reverse, backing over her daughter. The girl remained trapped under the car until the baseball players arrived.

"It took seven to 10 people," Valley High junior Glenmil Biete told the station. "We all ran over, carried the car. Then we had one person pull her out."

The girl was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her ear and arm.
