BEST MAN TERRITORY — Being asked to be the best man at a wedding is a big deal. It means the groom trusts you, loves you and wants you to be an integral part in the biggest day of his life.
I have been asked to be the best man before, and it meant a great deal to me. I took the responsibility seriously and even wrote out a speech. I was going to wing it but realized I’d probably crash and burn, so I figured I should at least put a few thoughts down.
While I was flattered and honored when I was asked to be a best man, I'm afraid my reaction wasn't one-quarter as great as this one. What you're about to see is one of the most genuine, sweet and inspiring things you'll ever witness.
Will Clausen is getting married and needs a best man. Who did he ask? His brother Henry Joe. But Will wasn't going to go the easy route and send a text to his brother saying, "Hey, bro. Wanna be the best man? Txt Y/N back." No, this guy went above and beyond, and I know why: because he was about to get the best best man ever.
Will buried a message in a bottle, and he and Henry Joe dug it up. You can see the excitement on sweet Henry Joe's face when he finds the mystery. Henry Joe and Will open the bottle and read the message. It reads: "Henry Joe, you are already the BEST bro, and my very BEST frand, so will you please say yes and be my BEST man?"
Henry Joe reads it out and it takes a moment for it to really sink in, but once it does you witness the most genuine reaction ever. Henry Joe cannot believe he's been asked and literally jumps into Will's arms and buries his face into his shoulder. You can't fake that kind of happiness. There is so much love pouring out of this video you can’t help but smile. You will probably get a lump in your throat and your eyes will get a little teary.
There have been a lot of best men throughout history. While I'm sure yours was great, I get the feeling Henry Joe is going to be the best best man of all time.
