BAYSIDE HIGH — School starts in a few days and for some it's already underway. We thought we'd help you get back into the school spirit.

No, I'm not going to tell you to get out and enjoy those last few days of summer, I'm proposing you spend that time inside watching these five movies.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Take a trip back to 2001 when Harry Potter and his crew first met and graced the halls of Hogwarts. Granted, almost all of these films could fall on the list considering they're all, "going back to school," but this was the first time.

Back-to-School Lesson to be Learned: While this next school year will likely be tough at least you don't have dementors trying to eat your soul. Look on the bright side.

Downside to Watching Before School Starts: You're not a wizard and you're not going to a wizard school. So, that's disappointing.

The School of Rock

While this one isn't exactly about school starting, it is about someone going back to school, it just happens to be a teacher.

"The School of Rock" isn't just a great movie to watch for back to school, it's just a great movie to watch.

Back-to-School Lesson to be Learned: Give your eccentric teacher a chance. He may be the biggest influence in your life.

Downside to Watching Before School Starts: Your teacher and class load probably won't be this awesome. If your teacher is like Mr. Schneebly, however, he will be arrested at the end of your adventure and likely prosecuted.

Mean Girls

Starting at a new school can be a nightmare and "Mean Girls" shows us why. The movie is hilarious, thanks to a screenplay written by Tina Fey, and at times it reminds those of us who have moved on from the horrors of high school why we call them the "horrors of high school."

Back-to-School Lesson to be Learned: Fitting in isn't that important, make sure to be yourself and honest with others.

Downside to Watching Before School Starts: It may get you a little depressed that Lindsay Lohan had a promising career at one point and no one wants to start the year off depressed.

Drillbit Taylor

So, this movie isn't exactly an instant classic, but it's pretty funny and if you haven't seen it give it a chance. Owen Wilson, at the very least, is fun to watch. Also, the three kids in the film are downright hilarious.

Back-to-School Lesson to be Learned: There are right ways and wrong ways to deal with bullies. Please, please, please pick the right way.

Downside to Watching Before School Starts: Not all hobos are as caring and charming as Drillbit Taylor. This may be disappointing to someone hoping to hire protection from school bullies. With that said, please refer to my comment above.

Remember the Titans

Now this movie gets you excited to get back to school and watch some football. Or play football, whatever.

The movie is emotional, funny and inspiring. That's a triple threat kind of movie.

Back-to-School Lesson to be Learned: We need to be accepting of everyone and treat each other with kindness and respect. Also, apparently being from California automatically makes you attractive and interesting.

Downside to Watching Before School Starts: If you don't play football you will have this feeling that a high school career without being on the football team is worthless. This isn't true.

If you do play football you will get unrealistic expectations of being able to de-cleat anyone you come across on the field. You can't, I promise.

So, there are five films to check out to get you ready for school. What would you put on the list? Let us know on the comment boards, Facebook or send an email.
