WEST JORDAN — This week's Wednesday's Child is nearing the end of high school and has never experienced what it's like to have a family.
Jamal is a sweet, polite, good-natured high school junior who isn't much into watching TV. He would rather get outside and be active.
In one of his foster homes, he learned how to ride a bicycle. But Jamal doesn't have a bike in his new foster home, so when KSL News took him to spend the afternoon at Rad Canyon BMX, he was in heaven.
From the moment Jamal went through the starting gate, it was clear he loves racing.
"I like to BMX. I like to play baseball, track and basketball," he said.
His favorite subject in school is English because he loves to write, and he wants to be a dentist someday.
Jamal would love the stability a permanent family would offer.
"Being in a family situation — I haven't had a family for a long time, so it would be really fun to experience it again," he said.
If a family is reading this and worries they aren't the perfect fit, Jamal said "perfect" isn't what he wants anyway; love is what he needs.
"I haven't had a family. I don't know what it's like anymore, so I don't know what a perfect family is," he said.
