SALT LAKE CITY — A mother caught her young son's buyer's remorse on camera and shared it on YouTube after he thought he accidentally bought a car for tens of thousands of dollars online.
Paula Papen, 35, uploaded a video of her 8-year-old son's reaction to her joke that he had accidentally bought a $50,000 Mustang on eBay. Kenyon had been browsing the site for a car to restore with his dad when he came across the Mustang he thought was only $500. When he realized it was much more, he tried to exit the listing, accidentally hitting "purchase" instead. He quickly shut off the iPad.
Paula picked up the iPad and figured out what had happened. Then she decided to play a prank on him. She asks Kenyon why he bought a $50,000 Mustang noting that they couldn't cancel the purchase.
"I didn't mean to buy it, I was just looking at it, then when I tried to exit out I bought it," Kenyon said through tears. "I didn't mean to. I was like, ‘oh no, oh no!' so I turned the iPad off."

He then exclaims, "We're going to have to sell everything, I'm horrible."
From outside of the camera's view, his 6-year-old sister Emily tried to console him.
"I'll use my money to buy you a Hot Wheels,'' she said.
Paula then tells the boy that he didn't buy the Mustang. His tears quickly turn to laughs.
After Paula uploaded the video to YouTube, it quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
"He has some emotional responses sometimes, and I thought it would be pretty comical,'' Paula said on an interview with the TODAY show Thursday. "So I thought I would just record it mostly for him to watch, but it turned out to be a lot funnier than I'd anticipated."
Some people thought it was just as funny as she did, but others were concerned by her parenting.
"I think, honestly, teaching teaching your kids to have a sense of humor is pretty important and teaching them to take a joke is a good deal too," Paula said on TODAY.
When asked what Kenyon thought of the joke, he responded in kind.
"Oh that was just a funny little prank. I wasn't worried," Kenyon told TODAY.
