AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Trey Davis scored 25 points and Derrick Gordon scored four of his 19 in the closing moments as Massachusetts held off Iona 87-82 on Tuesday night.

The Minutemen (7-6), who led by 11 midway through the second half following back-to-back 3's by Davis, were scoreless for almost three minutes when the Gaels (8-5) caught them at 81. Gordon finally broke the drought and the tie with 1:16 left.

After Isaiah Williams made one of two free throws, Gordon made two free throws at 18 seconds and after a steal, Donte Clark had a clinching dunk.

David Laury had 24 points and 11 rebounds and A.J. English had 16 points and 12 assists for Iona.

All five starters were in double figures for UMass, which shot 51.6 percent.

Davis finished 10 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 6 behind the arc, and contributed seven assists.
