LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police in Las Vegas shot and killed a man in an exchange of gunfire in a typically quiet neighborhood east of the airport.
Metro Police Capt. Matt McCarthy says officers responded to a call for help about 2 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Palm Street and East Hacienda Avenue.
He tells KVVU-TV (http://tinyurl.com/kltf7mg ) they found a man who had barricaded himself inside a house, then eventually came outside with a handgun. He says the man confronted several officers and shot at them before they returned fire.
No officers were hit by gunfire, but one suffered minor injuries.
The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma where he later was pronounced dead.
The shooting remains under investigation.
