Vehicle fire closes I-80 eastbound

SALT LAKE CITY — A truck caught fire in Parley's Canyon on Wednesday, closing eastbound Interstate 80. Lt. Cam Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver successfully escaped the vehicle, but the cab was fully engulfed. Roden said they assume it was some type of electrical or mechanical issue that caused the fire to start, but did not confirm an exact cause.

Shortly after 5 p.m., UDOT announced that all lanes were reopened.
