TAYLORSVILLE — A man was killed while riding his motorcycle in Taylorsville late Monday night after police believe a car veered into oncoming traffic. Two teens in the car were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and one is being investigated for DUI. Lt. Aaron Cheshire with the Taylorsville Police Department said emergency crews went to the scene of the crash at about 11:15 p.m. in the area of 2250 West and 5400 South. Cheshire said a 17-year-old boy was driving a vehicle eastbound on 5400 South, when the vehicle crossed over into westbound lanes, hitting the motorcycle head-on. The car then crashed into a power pole. The motorcyclist, identified as 30-year-old Marc Marrero, was thrown from the motorcycle and it burst into flames, Cheshire said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Marrero's identity was not immediately released. The driver of the car was pinned inside the vehicle, while the passenger, another 17-year-old boy, was ejected. Cheshire said they were both taken to the hospital in serious condition. "It was a violent crash," Cheshire told KSL. "Obviously, somebody on a motorcycle is very exposed. They don't have the airbags and the things like that to help them when the impact happens." Cheshire said the teen driver was being investigated for DUI. Contributing: Bridger Beal-Cvetko and Daniel Woodruff, KSL
