SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A construction worker is in critical condition after falling four floors down an elevator shaft at a construction site in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City fire spokesman Mark Bednarik says the man fell into the underground shaft Monday afternoon while working at the City Creek redevelopment. Bednarik says the worker was already underground when he fell into the shaft.
Fire crews loaded him on a rescue basket and pulled him out with lines and pulleys, then rushed him to a hospital.
Bednarik says he's unsure what work the man was doing or what caused the fall.
