NEW YORK, Aug 26, 2005 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Singer/poet Jewel says she has decided not to publish a book of love poems afterall.
"A lot of poets are vampires of emotion," she told MTV. "They suck it out and put it on a page; they're merciless about it. And so when I wrote these poems, everything was fair game."
But after thinking about who may read them, she decided the "steamy" material may be too much for some readers -- particularly the mother of her boyfriend, Ty Murray, she said.
"They're too explicit," she said.
She said toning down the material "wouldn't be honest," so she decided to just give a personal copy to Murray and cancel the national publication.
