Sheryl credits her career in journalism to her dad. While in high school Sheryl says her father once watched a newscast and said, "Sheryl, you can do that." With the confidence of her father behind her, she decided to try journalism in college and she has loved it ever since. She's been at KSL for more than 10 years.

Sheryl is often recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Utah Broadcasters Association for the quality of her work. In 2004 she won an Edward R. Murrow award for the Best News Reporting in a series. Sheryl examined the disturbing life of children found in drug homes. She often remarks about how the story changed her perspective on the drug problem.

Sheryl enjoys camping, reading, jogging and sports. She once broke 3 bones in her ankle while sliding into home plate on KSL's softball team. Needless to say, she doesn't remember if she was called safe. Most of her time is spent with her 2 daughters who keep her pretty busy.
