DATELINE (AP) -- Residents in Utah and Salt Lake counties will soon see a hike in water rates.

The Central Utah Water Conservancy board approved a tax increase that will up the water bill on an average home (worth 201-thousand dollars) by seven dollars and eight cents a year.

Meanwhile, the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District has proposed a tax increase that would add three dollars and 18 cents to the tab of an average home (worth 183-thousand dollars)

Looming capital projects are the source of both tax increases. Over the next decade, the Central Utah district must come up with 241(M) million dollars for a variety of projects.

Jordan Valley's proposed tax hike is for funding a similar 10-year capital improvements plan, which will cost 215 (M)millon dollars.
